Naperville, IL (May 30, 2018) -- Naperville Senior Center, Adult Day Services hosts annual
mini Relay For Life to benefit the American Cancer Society.

Naperville Senior Center, Adult Day Services, a family-owned business designed for Naperville-area adult residents unable to safely stay home alone, including those with cognitive and physical challenges, will be hosting its 4th annual mini Relay For Life from June 13-20 on the center’s indoor track. Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser cancer walk for the American Cancer Society.

“Seniors and staff alike will be participating,” said Mike Cooper, co-owner of Naperville Senior Center. “We will be walking, ‘walkering’ and wheeling around our exclusive indoor track all week to raise money to fight cancer. For many seniors with mobility problems, a full Relay For Life can be a daunting task. The Naperville Senior Center mini-relay is less strenuous, but still allows our members to give back to the community.” Added Kiyoko Czech, American Cancer Society’s Community Manager, Relay For Life, “This is a great opportunity for our elderly loved ones to participate in community activities, as well as raise money for this very worthwhile cause.”

On Wednesday, June 20, following the relay, there will be a luminary ceremony open to the public at Naperville Senior Center, Adult Day Services, located at 1504 N. Naper Blvd., Suite 120. “We look forward to seeing the community come together for the luminary ceremony and invite those who are interested in making a donation to the cause,” added Cynthia Warner, the center’s Activity Coordinator and relay team co-captain.

Thirty five seniors walked and wheeled around the center’s indoor track at last year’s event, raising $5,007, in the fight against cancer, bringing their three year total raised to $12,014! Their efforts put them in 4th place for funds raised at the city-wide Naperville 2017 Relay For Life of 34 teams. “We are very proud of our Members’ efforts. They are awesome,” Cooper said.
