Taste of Wheaton 2019 May 30 - June 2

Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton Park District and Wheaton Chamber of Commerce are ready to kick off summer with the 12th annual Taste of Wheaton from May 30 to June 2.
The four day festival will fill several square blocks with carnival rides, more than 20 food vendors, live entertainment, family friendly games, a beer garden, business expo, the Cosley Zoo Run for the Animals 5K/10K and ½ Mile Kids’ Run, and an art and craft fair.
“The committee comprised of Wheaton Park District and Wheaton Chamber of Commerce volunteers work hard to improve the fest year after year,” Wheaton Park District Superintendent of Marketing and Special Events Kristina Nemetz said. “This year is no exception.”
After community feedback, Nemetz said that this year’s art and craft fair will be inside Memorial Park. The festival will also feature more local entertainment and food vendors than in previous years.
Music lovers can enjoy a full entertainment schedule, featuring acts such as Vital Signs, Libido Funk Circus, Hi-Infidelity and Red Woody. These acts, plus 11 others throughout the free fest, all take the stage in the Memorial Park band shell.
Families can get into the summer spirit at the carnival on Liberty St., featuring rides, games and inflatables. Food lovers can choose from more than 20 vendors and carnival faire down Wheaton Ave., with local treats from Moveable Feast, Steamboat BBQ, Gia Mia Pizza Bar, Nani’s Pizza & Pasta, Graham’s Chocolates & Ice Cream, Choun’s and Gino’s East. Beer connoisseurs from craft to Coors can find something to sip in the beer garden, serving domestic beer, a craft beer selection, pop, water, red and white wine by the glass.
The Cosley Zoo Run for the Animals 5K/10K and ½ Mile Kid’s Run will be celebrating its 38th year in support of the development and renovation of its exhibits and the superb stewardship of its animals and the environment. Both race routes wind through residential Wheaton, and the 10K route makes a loop through Northside Park. The race will take place June 1 at Memorial Park.
On June 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Karlskoga Ave. will fill with kids’ activities perfect for ages 8 and under. Activities will include Touch-A-Truck, a teddy bear check-up with DuPage Medical Group, character visits from Cat Boy of PJ Mask, a tie dye station, face painting, magician, balloon artist, DJ, bucket drum and ukulele demonstrations and a free take-home art project with Sipping Muse.
“Memorial Park is the perfect backdrop for Taste of Wheaton,” Nemetz said. “It makes Taste of Wheaton unique, giving a small feel to our largest festival of the year.”
