The 2019 Memorial Day Parade, led by American Legion Post 76, will take place Monday, May 27. The parade will step off at 10 a.m. from Memorial Park. Please note that due to construction in the downtown, the parade will use a different route this year. The parade will begin at Union Avenue and Hale Street, proceeding:

  • West on Union Avenue
  • Turning south on West Street/Warrenville Road
  • Concluding at Wheaton Cemetery (on Warrenville Road).

During the parade, the Wheaton Police Department, with the cooperation and assistance of the Milton Township Highway Department, will temporarily modify the traffic pattern on Warrenville Road from Wheaton Cemetery / Merrill Drive and Warrenville Road to Orchard Road from two-way to only one way southbound. This condition will exist from approximately 9:30 a.m. until noon. During the event, these streets will be adequately staffed with uniformed Police Officers to assist and direct traffic.

Residents, citizens, and motorists are being asked for their cooperation in not moving the barricades to ensure the safety of the Parade participants. Motorists may experience temporary traffic delays and choose to alter their travel route to avoid these areas.

All veteran, youth groups, businesses, schools, band groups, City entities and the like are welcome to join the parade. For more information on how to participate, visit the American Legion Post 76's website.
