Social Media & the Brain
Date: May 31, 2018
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Event Description
Social Scientists have debated the positive and negative psychological effects of computer social networks for nearly two decades. This talk will trace the history of the development of computer social networks, focusing on their effects on human psychology and brain processes. We will examine the extent to which these networks represent a fundamentally new kind of interaction that will enhance social connections, a downward spiral into isolation through artificial connections that will tear apart our social fabric, or more of a natural extension of traditional social networks. Presented by COD professor Ken Gray.
